Hiring Full-Service Movers? Know What You Can Expect
Nobody really enjoys moving, which is what leads people to hire movers to take care of it all for them. If you have never used full-service movers before, you may not be aware of what they will do for you on your moving day. Know that you should expect the following things to be done.
Work With A Move Coordinator
The full-service movers should have someone as your main point of contact for the move, which can either be one of the movers themselves or somebody back at the office. This person will be responsible for drafting an estimate for your move, so you can get a general idea of what you can expect.
The coordinator essentially plans how things will be packed and moved into your home, going as far as deciding the order that everything needs to happen to make the process as efficient as possible. For example, they may decide to pack the front of the truck with boxes first, and then load heavy appliances toward the rear of the truck.
Provide Packing Service
The good thing about using a full-service mover is that you do not need to do your own packing. They provide all of the packing materials, including boxes, Bubble Wrap, and tape. If you are moving large items, they will provide furniture pads and plastic wrap to prevent them from becoming damaged during the move. It's a nice service because you do not need to worry about purchasing too many boxes or not enough.
Provide Moving Insurance
One of the benefits of using full-service movers for the entire move is that the service often includes insurance on your belongings. Since they did the packing, they are ensuring that things are packed correctly and won't become damaged in transit. If you do have an item that breaks, you can make a claim to have that item replaced with a new one. Many movers won't offer this insurance if they do not do the packing because they cannot be held responsible for the homeowner not using the right packing materials for the job.
Perform The Heavy Lifting
You should not have to lift a single thing when your moving day finally comes. You can just sit back and let the movers take care of everything. Chances are, you'll just get in the way and slow them down anyway.
